CheckinAsyst has a bi-directional interface with athenahealth. Discrete clinical data and payment collection information, taken at the Point of Service (POS), is collected and sent back to athenahealth. This helps in streamlining and expediting the patient intake process.

Below is a standard workflow of how CheckinAsyst works with athenahealth. This can be customized for your organization’s unique needs.

Front office personnel creates a new patient appointment in athenahealth
Scheduled appointments are imported from athenahealth to CheckinAsyst
Patient arrives at the facility and starts self check-in process on iPad or kiosk
Updates demographics and clinical information
Patient completes clinical, consent and assessment forms and electronically signs on iPad/kiosk screen
Patient pays co-pay and outstanding balance via credit card swipe at the iPad/kiosk. Choice to pay by cash at the front desk
Payment updated on athenahealth; signed clinical, assessment and consent forms are sent to athenahealth in PDF format
